Bookkeeping

Professional bookkeeping in English, so you can focus on building your business while we keep the records — and the Danish Tax Agency — happy.

Ongoing bookkeeping at a fixed price

AD Financy keeps your books all year round: receipts are recorded as they come in, accounts are reconciled, and VAT is reported to the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen) on time. You get one dedicated bookkeeper who knows your business, and an answer to your questions within one working day.

The price starts from the number of documents per year, not the number of hours, and then depends on what else you need help with. You get the full price before we start. See the price level.

We work in e-conomic, Dinero and Billy — the three systems most Danish businesses use — so you keep your own login and can check the figures whenever you like.

Why bookkeeping works differently in Denmark

Danish bookkeeping is tightly bound to two obligations that catch most newcomers out. The first is VAT (moms): most businesses report quarterly, and the return has to be filed even in a period with no activity. The second is the Bookkeeping Act, which requires you to keep your records and supporting documents in digital form for five years.

Neither is difficult once the routine is in place. What causes trouble is discovering them late — typically when a deadline has already passed and the first fine has arrived. We set the routine up from the start, so the obligations are simply handled in the background.

Ongoing bookkeeping means documents are recorded as you go — not in one pile at year-end.

Bookkeeping for small and medium-sized businesses

We keep the books for sole proprietorships, ApS and A/S companies across a range of industries — trades, retail, consultancy and clinics. The needs differ: a construction business with fluctuating stock and many small receipts needs a different setup than a consultant with few, regular entries.

So we always start by looking at how your business actually works before fixing the chart of accounts and the routines. If you have just started a company in Denmark, we also help get the bookkeeping set up correctly from the beginning, so there is nothing to unpick later.

What does a bookkeeper cost?

The price starts from the number of documents per year — not your turnover, and not how many hours the work takes. A smaller sole proprietorship typically has far fewer documents than a company with several employees, and so sits lower.

At AD Financy you get transparent prices with no hidden fees. The figures on the pricing page are indicative: the final price also depends on how many parts of your finances we take on.

What affects the price:

  • Documents per year — the single biggest factor.
  • Which tasks are included — bookkeeping, VAT, the annual report, payroll and tax advice.
  • Whether a financial year needs cleaning up before it can be closed.

An external bookkeeper in Greater Copenhagen

An external bookkeeper costs less than an employee, and the price stays fixed all year instead of moving with the workload. You also avoid standing alone when the rules change — which, in Danish accounting, they regularly do.

Our office is in Albertslund, and we work with businesses across Greater Copenhagen. You choose the format: send documents digitally and get an answer the same day, or come by the office when something is easier to sort out face to face.

That gives you:

  • A fixed point of contact — the same bookkeeper every time, not a new case handler on every call.
  • Competitive prices with no lock-in period.
  • Modern systems, where you have access to your own figures.
  • Advice in plain English, without unnecessary accounting jargon.

How AD Financy helps with your bookkeeping

We start by getting access to your accounting software and pulling the trial balance and documents. After that it runs on a fixed routine:

Documents and recording. We collect and organise receipts digitally and record income and expenses continuously, keeping the chart of accounts clean and every entry documented.

VAT. We reconcile the VAT accounts and file with the Danish Tax Agency before the deadline, so you avoid fines and reminder fees.

Payroll. If you have employees, we can run payroll with tax, pension and holiday pay as part of the agreement. See our payroll service.

Reporting. You get a running overview of the company's finances and a basis the annual report can be built on directly. Read about annual reports.

Frequently asked questions about bookkeeping

How much does a bookkeeper cost in Denmark?

The price starts from the number of documents per year rather than hours spent, and then depends on which tasks we take on. Our pricing page shows where the level sits, and you get the full price before we start.

What is the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?

A bookkeeper handles the day-to-day record keeping: receipts, entries, VAT and payroll. An accountant works on the overall reporting, the annual report and tax advice. With us you get both from the same team.

Can I switch bookkeeper in the middle of a financial year?

Yes. It is both legal and common in Denmark. We collect the trial balance and documents from your current bookkeeper and get access to your accounting system. It usually takes about half an hour of your time.

Which accounting software do you use?

We work in e-conomic, Dinero and Billy — the three most common systems in Denmark. You keep your own login, so you can always check the figures yourself.

Do you speak English?

Yes. We work in English with founders and business owners who have moved to Denmark, and we explain the Danish rules — VAT, CVR registration and reporting deadlines — in plain English.
